Growing the Business

During the three-month spring season, it’s not unusual fo Andy Klos, manager of O’Fallon’s Market Basket, to work 70 hours a week. During quieter months, he works 40 to 50 hours a week. He does whatever it takes to get the job done.

Andy has been with The Market Basket for six years, starting in the Edwardsville meat department. After graduating from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, in 2002 with a degree in business management and marketing, Andy left The Market Basket to join a management training program with another grocery chain, but he missed The Market Basket’s culture and customers. So Jason Stevens hired Andy and taught him the landscape/ garden business. When the new O’Fallon garden and landscape store opened, Andy jumped at the opportunity to run it.

As store manager, Andy does it all – ordering landscape, garden, pet food and all related supplies. He oversees the inventory, promotes excellent customer service and manages the expert and knowledgeable staff of associates.

“I’m a problem solver,” says Andy. “Give me a good challenge, and I’ll figure out how to make my store the best as well as make my staff and customers happy.”
